Rooted in Africa. Growing together in Scotland. Clydebank & beyond ↗

Rooted in sisterhood

Our stories are different.
Our strength is shared.

African Women Support Network is a community-led organisation in Clydebank, Scotland, empowering African women, strengthening families and creating opportunities to thrive.

AWSN women and families gathered together Women supporting women. Every step of the way.

Why we’re here

Connection changes
everything.

AWSN was established in response to the isolation, barriers to integration and limited access to opportunities that many African women experience — alongside the pressures of family life and personal development.

We believe every woman deserves to feel valued, supported and included. Through peer support, community activities and learning opportunities, we create space to share experiences, build confidence and discover new possibilities.

When women are supported, families are strengthened and communities thrive.

Our mission

Support to grow.
Freedom to thrive.

To empower African women and families through community support, skills development, wellbeing initiatives, social inclusion and meaningful opportunities for growth, leadership and participation.

Our vision

Connected. Included.
Empowered.

A society where African women and their families are equipped to thrive, contribute and shape the communities in which they live.

The road ahead

More women.
More possibility.

We’re working towards stronger regular activities, wider skills and employability opportunities, and more structured support for mothers, families and women experiencing isolation.

Our future ambitions include RISE Girls Club, supporting Black girls and young women to embrace their identities, build resilience, learn practical skills and become confident leaders.

As we develop our organisational capacity and plans for charitable incorporation, we aim to build the partnerships, governance and sustainable funding that will help our network grow.
